At level 3 (The Defined Level) the standard processes for defining and maintaining software across the organization is documented , including the SW-Engineering and management processes.
The key process areas of level 3 focus on management processes (Integrated software management & Inter group coordination) KPAs . It also focus on organizational processes (Organization process focus , organization process definition & Training Program ) KPAs . It focus on engineering processes (software product engineering & Peer Reviews) . These seven KPAs are considered the most important within the CMM © Key process areas .
At level 3 management has good insight into technical progress on all projects because the software life cycle processes are well defined and followed.
