  Introduction to CMM® Course
 
SECC organized a course jointly with the Software Engineering Institute (SEI) entitled SEI-Introduction to CMM®. The course was held from 12 to 14 March 2002. The objective of this course is to qualify assessors in Egypt to participate in the CMM assessment activities.

Course Description
 
  • This three-day course introduces participants to the SW-CMM and its fundamental concepts. The course discussion emphasizes understanding of the five maturity levels and their characteristic key process areas (KPAs). The course is composed of lectures and class exercises with ample opportunity for participant questions and discussions. Introduction to SW-CMM helps prepare participants to make valid judgments regarding an organization's implementation of the KPAs. The course is helpful in identifying issues that should be addressed in performing software process improvementas structured by the SW-CMM.
 
Instructor Short Bio

  Dr.Jack Hilbing:
  • Jack Hilbing is the Chief technology Officer of Carnegie Global Technologies Inc. and the president of Hilbing & Associates, Inc. He has over 30 years experience in the computer field as a business and technical manager, researcher, systems analyst, business developer, and university professor. Dr. Hilbing is an authorized CBA -IPI Lead Assessor, authorized SCAMPI lead assessor, an authorized instructor of the introduction to the CMM, and an authorized instructor of the introduction to the CMMI. He is also a visiting scientist of the SEI. Prior to August 2001, Dr. Hilbing spent 12 years at Carnegie Mellon University at Software Engineering Institute (SEI) and the Center for Information systems Engineering (CISE). He was the first managing director of CISE, a unit of the University established to help industry apply advanced software engineering practices, especially software process improvement.
