Risk Management Workshop

SECC in collaboration with Motorola had a training workshop on Risk Managment ,The workshop had been delivered by Jim Brodie and John F. Pelligrin during the period from April 27 to April 28, 2004 at Smart Village.

Workshop Overview

  • In order to successfully manage an enterprise, an organization, or a project, it is necessary to be able to manage the many risks that may have potentially harmful affects. The technology of risk management has evolved over the last decades to include a variety of approaches to identifying, classifying, tracking, and mitigating these potential problems, and to minimize their harmful affects. On the other hand, not all risks can or should be avoided. If too much time and effort is spent avoiding risks, the enterprise may not be sufficiently competitive to succeed in their marketplace. So choosing the risks you will address becomes critical as well.
  • This workshop provided a survey of the risk management technology and the major approaches that have been developed within the software engineering field. Much of the work has emerged out of programs at the US Software Engineering Institute (SEI), along with many other important authors that have contributed significantly to this technology. Some of the major concepts and frameworks for risk management will be explored in the workshop and exercises used to guide the participants to apply the concepts in their current situation.
