Under the auspices of H.E Dr. Tarek Kamel, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, SECC held a launching ceremony to inaugurate its new Embedded Software Development Unit. The ceremony has been taken place at the headquarters of the Center in the Smart Village on Wednesday 12thJuly at 2.00 pm.
The Embedded Software Development Unit came as a result of the collaboration between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). The Unit aims at boosting the industry of Embedded Systems in Egypt using its state-of-the-art equipment and capable, highly trained, and efficient Egyptian manpower. It is worth noting that the majority of workers in the unit underwent extensive training courses in some of South Korea's prominent companies. Such courses were carefully designed to produce specialized Egyptian cadres that would be able to provide technical support and consultant services to Egyptian companies in the field.

Commenting on the importance of the unit, Dr. Gamal Mohamed Ali, Chairman of the Software Engineering Competence Center, said that Computer Embedded Systems have become an integral component in most of the electronic machines we use in our daily life all over the world. These systems exist in mobile phones, cameras, cars, televisions, etc… He emphasized the essentiality of acquiring the knowledge to develop software needed in Computer Embedded Systems as one of the pillars of developing software industry in Egypt. Dr. Aly noted that such development can only be achieved through knowledge, sharing expertise, and close cooperation with relevant Egyptian companies.
The ceremony has been attended by the Ambassador of South Korea and a high-ranking delegation representing the Embassy and the Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA). This is in addition to a number of stakeholders working in the field of developing Embedded Systems and representatives of relevant departments at the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, ITIDA and SECC staff
