During April and May 2017 SECC lead appraisers appraised two companies
to raise the number of appraised CMMI® companies by SECC to 73
 
SECC lead appraisers appraised an Egyptian company "Aviation Information Technology (AVIT)" to obtain CMMI® for Services Maturity Level 2, and a Chinese company "Guangdong Rocent Information Technology Co., Ltd." to obtain CMMI® for Development Maturity Level 3.

73 organizations in Egypt, KSA, Syria, Kuwait, UAE and China are appraised by SECC lead appraisers to reach maturity levels 2 and 3 for Services and Development.

+2300 Software Testers are now certified by the ESTB in Egypt
 
The Software Engineering Competence Center as the legal entity of the Egyptian Software Testing Board and sole Examination Institute/Certification Body for the ISTQB® certificates in Egypt is excited to announce that it has certified more than 2300 software testers in Egypt, including Certified Tester Foundational Level (CTFL), Certified Tester Foundation Level- Agile Tester (CTFL-AT), Certified Tester Advanced Level- Technical Test Analyst (CTAL-TTA), and Certified Tester Advanced Level- Test Manager (CTAL-TM).

Software testing is becoming more critical as the proportion of the economic activity that is dependent on software (and often very complex software) continues to grow. It is nowadays a booming profession that offers a rewarding and structured career path with clearly defined roles and qualifications. At this is momentous occasion, SECC is pleased with the results to date, and will continue to strive to improve the profession of software testing in Egypt.

The Egyptian Software Testing Board (ESTB) is a recognized national board of the International Software Testing Qualifications Board (ISTQB®), supporting the only not-for-profit, internationally recognized software testing certification program. The ESTB assists with certification of candidates by accrediting qualified training providers and their courses that support the ISTQB® software testing certification.

SECC Participates in IST-Africa 2016-2018 EU Project
 
SECC participates in the IST-Africa 2016-2018 EU project that is supported by the European Commission (EC) and African Union Commission (AUC), and co-funded under Horizon 2020 (Contract 723240).

IST-Africa is a strategic collaboration between IIMC (Ireland) and Ministries and National Councils responsible for Innovation, Science and Technology adoption, policy and research in 18 African Countries among which is Egypt.

SECC Adopts the Global Sourcing Standard
 
The Global Sourcing Standard created by GSA is perfectly positioned to raise an organization's profile. It is a well-regarded framework regularly scrutinized by industry practitioners.

SECC introduced the Global Sourcing Standard course which aims to introduce the key principles of outsourcing practice of the Global Sourcing Standard. The course is practical rather than theoretical, with participants encouraged to consider the relevance of the material to their own roles and to consider how they can make a difference to their own organization sourcing practices.

SECC Provides Technical Support as Part of the National Competence Framework (NCF)
 
SECC cooperated with the National Competence Framework (NCF) Initiative team through providing technical support in the adoption of the NCF within the ICT Industry. SECC role covers the on/offsite consultation for adoption to the companies, along with assessing the adoption status.

The NCF, jointly developed by the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) and the International Finance Cooperation (IFC), was announced as an initiative with the objective to develop a sustainable approach to enhance the employability of Egyptian ICT talent pool and upgrade the quality of training, education through establishing industry-led skills and competencies framework for adoption by the ICT companies as well as the training and selected public and private educational institutes.

Commercial International Bank Obtains CMMI Accreditation
 
SECC lead appraiser, Ms. Madiha Hassan appraised the Commercial International Bank (CIB) to obtain CMMI for Development Maturity Level 2. Seventy one organizations in Egypt, KSA, Syria, Kuwait, UAE and China are Appraised by SECC lead appraisers to reach maturity levels 2 and 3 for Services and Development.

SECC has launched Egypt's Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) online platform during Cairo ICT 2016 to foster FOSS utilization in Egypt as part of implementing EGYPT FOSS Strategy. The platform is one of the first moves of the Egyptian national strategy for promoting the free and open source.
