ITIDA-SECC/IBM-Rational Tools  Initiative Project
 
 
Scope of Work
 
The initiative is between Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) & IBM World Trade Cooperation (IBM-WTC). It aims at provide software companies with software process improvement & development tools (IBM –Rational) to enhance their abilities to produce high quality software products. SECC as a part of ITIDA, whose mission is to support the development of the software industry in Egypt by improving the software engineering practices, is considered as the responsible entity to control, monitor and follow up this initiative between ITIDA and IBM. SECC will acquire 35 Rational Suite Floating Licenses. IBM will provide assistance and support services to SECC under this Scope of Work. The Services charges are incorporated in the License fee. Services provided by IBM are:
  1. Train the trainers Education” designed for instructors to be able to conduct Rational education.
  2. Training end-users” on Rational courses in five main tracks and will be repeated twice.
  3. Certifications cost for twenty developers selected by SECC.
  4. In–house consultations for five companies selected by SECC; to migrate from current software environment to Rational tools.
  5. Two man-years of support for end-user questions for software companies selected by SECC.
  6. Installation of Rational Suite in companies selected by SECC and the installation of the License Monitoring tools in SECC.

 
Training Plan
 
SECC in collaboration with IBM will conduct a series of courses that cover IBM Rational main software development disciplines. These courses are intended to leverage attendees to be able to:
  1. Conduct Rational education courses.
  2. Act as first line support for end users using rational tools.

    Implementation of ITIDA – IBM Agreement
      To start the implementation of the Agreement between ITIDA and IBM, it is important to identify the companies that will participate in this process and define their share.
    • Three issues are important to start the process:
      1. Criteria for selection of the companies (both large companies and SME's are considered)
      2. Cost Sharing of the companies
      3. Companies Registration
     

      1. Criteria for Companies Selection:

      1. Criteria for Large Companies - (Category A)

      2. (Category A: Companies classified in category A will get number of Rational full suite that will be installed and hosted at a server in the Company)

      3. Criteria for SME's (Small and Medium Enterprises)-(Category B)

      4. (Category B: Companies classified in category B will have shared licenses, and the licenses will be installed at SECC premises & administrated through SECC) (Prerequisite: Internet Connectivity speed 1MB at least)

      2. Cost Sharing of the Companies:

      1. For Large Companies
        10% of the total fees (about 12.000 LE per seat)
      2. For SME'S
        3000 L.E.
