26 Feb., 2014: The 3rd RECOCAPE Event "Semantic Technologies for Web, Applications & Internet of Things"
Witnessing the Launch of Internet of Things - Egypt Forum & First SECC Hackathon on Semantic Technology  [Show/Hide this event details]

About the Event: This Event is part of RECOCAPE project activities coordinated and executed by SECC, within the 7th Framework Programme (FP7) funded by the European Commission.

Today, systems are relying more and more on integrating heterogeneous information sources (devices, objects, etc.) in order to provide better services to the end users. Accordingly, the so-called “Internet of Things” (IoT) or better “Internet of Anything” has emerged with the promise of bringing smartness to the services that we consume in a daily basis. In IoT-based systems, people along with natural or man-made objects are uniquely identified and are able to collect, process, and, transfer data automatically over a network.

Target Audience: CEOs, CIOs, IT specialists, consultants, researchers from academia and research laboratories.

Location: ITIDA Premises, Building 121, Ground Floor Theatre, Smart Village

15 May, 2012: The 1st RECOCAPE Event [Show/Hide this event details]

About the Event: The Software Engineering Competence Center (SECC) of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) held its first RECOCAPE event on May 15th, 2012 at the smart village in cooperation with its allies from Spain and Italy. The event aimed at shedding the light to Egyptian ICT companies on the challenges and the opportunities in adopting emerging software technologies.

The event was attended by fifty IT professionals from forty five companies. During the event, SECC experts and foreign guests from TECNALIA of Spain and UNIBO of Italy presented on five technologies including emerging applications for Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA); Semantic Web technologies and their application to interoperable smart environment applications; applicability of Model Driven Development to software factories; discovering features interactions in software product lines and an Agile approach to software process improvement.

Most of the attendees commented that the event showed a wider scope of applying these technologies far beyond what is currently being applied even at the large companies in the Egyptian market. This goes in line with SECC commitment to exerting every possible effort in introducing new technologies to Egyptian ICT companies with the vision of being a leading organization in enhancing the quality, efficiency & level of innovation of the ICT companies to improve their global competitiveness.
